Christ Church Cathedral in St. Louis is not only a vibrant Christian community and spiritual center, but also a catalyst for reconciliation, a voice standing with the marginalized and a place where all of St. Louis comes together to work for the common good. We have done this by following Jesus in prayer, study and worship, being a catalyst for launching Magdalene St. Louis (www.magdalenestl.org), continuing our work for marriage equality, bringing the diverse and often battling constituencies downtown together to try to create better long-term solutions to homelessness, and consistently opening our space for community conversations, town hall meetings and fundraisers for local organizations.
In short, it is the work of treating all as beloved images of God. The work of seeking and serving Christ is our primary mission… and we do it not just for ourselves but for the benefit of all.
In 2014, our leadership has been on the front lines of the issue of racial injustice by standing with the young, courageous nonviolent demonstrators in the Ferguson and the Shaw neighborhoods who are the emerging leaders of a movement of racial equality, offering a space where people of differing opinions can come for conversation and also taking a deep look at our own community and the role privilege plays in our lives.
If you believe in what we are and what we are becoming, please make a gift and become a Friend of Christ Church Cathedral. The money will go to sustain and grow the work we are doing and our leadership will know there is support for this vision in the wider church and community.
Thank you so much for your friendship and support.
